Thomas "Tom" Turner passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love. Tom was born on November 19,1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to Katherine Hildebrandt and Robert Turner. He attended East Detroit High School, graduating in 1970. Tom lived in East Detroit (Eastpointe), MI, for much of his life, and then moved to Waterford, MI.
He had a passion for hunting and fishing and spending time immersed with nature. Whether it was casting a line, sitting in the woods, or cruising the water on his boat, or the quiet crackle of a campfire, he found peace and happiness outside. In his younger years, Tom was an avid football player and carried that same passion into his lifelong love for sports. He rarely missed a game when his beloved Detroit Lions, Tigers or Red Wings were playing. Father's day was often celebrated at the ballpark with his son watching the Tiger's play.
Tom will be remembered for his generous spirit, his quiet nature, and the memories he made with friends and family. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories and caring nature he leaves behind will live on in those who loved him.
He is survived by his son Timothy (Laura) Turner, his daughter Laura Palmer, his grandson Miles Turner; his sisters: Janet Wentz, Gail Sobczak, Kathie Bachman; and step-son Aaron Carr. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Hildebrant (Radtke) and Robert Turner.
A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am until the time of service.
