Thomas John Satawa, age 79, of Highland, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary; his two sons: Mark (Lisa) Satawa, and Tommy Satawa; and his three cherished grandchildren: Megan, Spencer, and Justin. Thomas was the favorite uncle to many nieces & nephews, and was loved dearly by his in-laws. He leaves behind his three “granddogs:” Bandit, Frosty, and Bailey.
Thomas was born June 1, 1944, in Hamtramck, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Casimer and Mary (Redys) Satawa. When he was introduced to Mary Vetowich during his senior year of high school, it was love at first sight. Thomas and Mary were eventually united in marriage on September 2, 1965, sharing fifty-eight wonderful years together. Thomas devoted much of his adult life to a successful career as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for thirty-two years until his retirement in 2007. In his free time, Thomas could always be found cheering on the Detroit Red Wings, taking care of his yard, or sitting by the water enjoying a beer. Some of his greatest memories were made supporting his grandchildren at their own sporting events. Thomas was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Casimer and Mary; and his three sisters: Chris, Pat, and Mary Ann.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Kateri Catholic Church, 16101 Rotunda Drive, Dearborn with a Memorial Luncheon to follow at American Legion Carl E. Stitt Post 232, 23850 Military Road, Dearborn Heights. The family requests that something red be worn for the services.
