Roland "Raul" Joseph DesMarais, age 90, of New Port Richey, Florida and formerly of Commerce Township, Michigan, was born September 17, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away November 24, 2021 in Milford, Michigan. Loving father of Ronna Freeland and Todd (Jenelle) DesMarais. Proud grandfather of Jacks DesMarais, Courtney DesMarais, Dayna Freeland, Tyler DesMarais, Devon Freeland, and Luc DesMarais. Cherished uncle of many. Former spouse of Ruth Frankel, the mother of his children. Roland was preceded in passing by his son, Jeffrey DesMarais; his siblings and their spouses: Delores (Raymond) Cleghorn, John (Ola) DesMarais, Douglas (Simone) DesMarais, Loraine (Jack) Gaden, and Ernest (Willa) DesMarais; and his parents, Ernest and Ruth DesMarais.
Roland proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 1:00pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland.
