Amy, I have to just say, you have taught me so very much. I too joined the Catholic church a couple years ago, and brought my husband back after 40 yrs. I didn't know Officer O'Rourke personally but as a long time WB resident I was definitely acquainted with him.  I wanted to send my thank you to his family for sharing him with our community all these years.  While our loss is palpable, yours is unthinkable. My heart goes out to your family --I am so sorry for your loss.  I do hope that as time passes, your memories will replace your grief, and this fine man's legacy will remain as a role model for your children, family, police officers and others.

We are so sorry about your loss, we met Officer O'Rourke at Marshbank Park while he was patrolling, we talked about the renovations and he told us that more people need to go to the park.  He was so nice and friendly and we thank him and the west bloomfield police for keeping us safe.  He will be missed even though I don't know him. prayers for you and your children as you go through this difficult time. It was a touching vigil service in front of the west bloomfield police station we were there holding our lighted candles and praying. May god bless you and your family.

Dear Amy and children,  You don't know me but ever since I heard about this tragedy on the news, I just can't get you off my mind.  I was viewing the guest book and see that strangers are sending their thoughts so I hope you don't mind words from yet another stranger. Your husband seemed like such a kind, loving family man.  He reminds me so much of my dad when I was young. I only know what you are going through because of my grandmother. Her husband passed at 41 leaving her with 8 children. My dad was the oldest, 12 yrs. and the youngest was 6 months old. Her faith was very strong and she often told me that if it wasn't for that and the wonderful people at St. Clements (Center Line,Mi)she did not know how she would have gotten through it all.  I will pray for you and your beautiful 4 children.  Your husband will live through them FOREVER! God bless the O'Rourke family.
