Martin David Woods Sr.

Martin David Woods, Sr. “Dave”, age 81, died unexpectedly on September 14, 2022. He was born October 4, 1940, in Farmington, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Bernice Woods. In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his wives Patricia L. and Barbara L. Woods, and his siblings Judy, Barbara, Susan, Gary and Carol.

Surviving are his daughters, Lori (Paul) Greyerbiehl, Dana (Bradley) Swartz, and Nicole (Anthony) Piazza; Grandchildren D. Michael (Kristen) Woods, Matisse (William) and Zaine Swartz, Gianna and Ava Piazza; Great-grandsons Lucas, Jacob and Kelly Woods; and siblings Raymond (Bonnie) Woods, James (Ember) Woods, Linda Woods, Glen (Donna) Woods and Karen (Lee) Rogers.

Dave, a graduate of General Motors Institute, married his high school sweetheart Patricia Trask in 1960. He worked at Hi-Mill Manufacturing until being hired by General Motors. After retiring from GM, Dave realized his entrepreneurial dreams as owner/operator of the Highland Answering Service, Precision Tune of Flint, Precision Tune of Burton, and the Highland-Woods Apartments.

He was fortunate later in life to be surrounded by 3 generations of his family and a bonus extended family thanks to finding love again with Barbara. He was able to travel, attend car cruises and spend time at his favorite place, Higgins Lake. Dave’s journey was like a pebble thrown into Higgins Lake, sending ripples ever outward into the future.

He shared his passion for cars with his family and has always had a collection. Fast cars, fast boats, fast snowmobiles…his motto was “if you’re not in the lead, the scenery never changes”.

All people die but not all people live…Dave lived his life to its’ fullest and he did it on his terms.
