Martha Rose Favor, age 90, of Hale, died Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Cheri (Allen) Kozlowski, and Nancy (John Trylinski) Favor; her two granddaughters: Krysta (Darren) Duffany, and Keely (Nicholas) Vacca; her three great-grandchildren: Colin Duffany, Hadley Vacca, and Isadora Vacca; and her sister, Pauline Gordon.
Martha was born June 2, 1931, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William and Frances (Virbitski) Stosis. Martha met Edward Favor at a Roller Rink in Lincoln Park; shortly after, the two started dating, fell in love, and were married on May 3, 1952. They shared twenty-six wonderful years together until Edward’s death on January 15, 1978. Martha worked as a bookkeeper at Bawol Accounting for many years until her retirement.
Martha was a member of the congregation at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Hale for many years and was very active in the Hale Senior Center, where she served as a board member. In her free time, Martha could be found baking, reading a book, or playing a round of dominos or bingo. She loved to travel and had fond memories of her trips all around the world. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by many.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances; her loving husband, Edward; and her significant other, Herbert Bakewell.
A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9068 Hutchins Road, White Lake 48386. Martha's family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Rev. Fr. Thomas Meagher will officiate. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions in Martha's name to the Iosco County Humane Society. At a later date, a private burial will take place at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale, the city that Martha called home for more than forty years.
