Helen Jane Shackleford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on April 18, 2024, in White Lake, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 7, 1936, in Rogers City, Michigan, to Joseph and Mary Waslyk.
Helen graduated from Saint Ignatius Catholic School in Rogers City, Michigan, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with compassion, faith, and love. In 1955, she embarked on a journey of love and companionship with her devoted husband, Lloyd Shackleford, whom she cherished dearly until his passing. Together, they built a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Helen found joy and fulfillment in simple pleasures. She had a passion for sewing, creating beautiful pieces with her skilled hands. Her devotion to her faith was evident in her active participation in bible study, where she found solace and strength. Helen's competitive spirit came alive during her favorite pastimes of bingo and scrabble, where she enjoyed friendly competition and camaraderie with friends and family.
Helen's life was marked by love and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Shackleford, her son Tom Lloyd Shackleford, and her parents, Joseph and Mary Waslyk. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her loving daughter Christine (Paul) Smith, grandchildren Robert Smith and Jeremy (Rachel) Smith, and great-grandchild Nicholas Smith. She is also survived by her siblings Donna (Howard) Buchler and James (Kathy) Waslyk, who will continue to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love.
Helen's warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
