Donna Kay Ricketts, age 89, of Brighton, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at her home. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: David (Dawn Levitt) Ricketts, Suzanne Warling, and Denise Ricketts; her four grandchildren: May Warling, Reid Warling, Jackson Warling, and Savannah Ricketts; her great-grandson, Charles Feight; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Donna was born August 9, 1934, in Detroit, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Leonard and Madalyn (Langsdon) Sewell. She met the love of her life, Charles Ricketts, at a birthday party in 1949. Donna and Charles began dating, fell in love, and were married in 1953, sharing sixty-six wonderful years together until Charles passing in 2019. Throughout her life, Donna worked as a secretary for Detroit Public Schools and Farmington Public Schools for many years, until her retirement in 1992. In her free time, Donna could always be found working on one of her many sewing projects. The challenge of reupholstering held a special place in her heart, a testament to her knack for turning the old into something refreshingly new. Donna’s spirit also embraced the allure of adventure. The lights of Las Vegas held a particular magic for her, and her memories of those treasured trips served as a source of joy and nostalgia. She was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Madalyn; her beloved husband, Charles Ricketts.
