Daniel William Regan, age 82, of Highland Township, formerly of Canadian Lakes, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rita; his two sons: Michael (Diana) Regan, and Thomas Regan; his four grandchildren: Amanda (Brandon), Alyssa (Emilio), Gabrielle (Hamadi), and Ashton; his four great-grandchildren: Carson, Jackson, Bennett, and Mason; his three sisters: Mary, Elizabeth, and Agnes; and his many loved nieces and nephews.
Dan was born October 15, 1940, in Detroit, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius and Catherine (O’Brien) Regan. Dan was introduced to Rita Nabozny when they attended the same high school, and it was love at first sight! Dan and Rita would eventually marry on January 27, 1962, sharing sixty-one wonderful years together. From 1959 until 1963, Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. During his time in the military, he was awarded the United States Coast Guard Good Conduct Metal. Upon his honorable discharge, Daniel opened his own printing company, where he served customers for over thirty years until his retirement.
In his free time, Dan could always be found going bowling, or playing a round of golf. In fact, after his retirement, Daniel went back to work as a golf course lawn maintenance man. He greatly enjoyed this job, as it was another way to get out on the golf course for the afternoon. Some of Dan’s fondest memories were also made on trips to the sand dunes with his family, and on golf trips with his wife Rita to Myrtle Beach. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Catherine; his twin sister, Connie; his sister, Cass; and his grandson, Michael.
In accordance with Daniel’s wishes, cremation will take place. At a later date, an inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider contributions in Daniel’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Veteran Service Dogs Organization of Howell.
