Christine Ann Jaworski Rejniak passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence, in 2021. She is survived by her three daughters Paula Kipke (Daryl), Laura Rejniak, and Pamela Glover (Ken), 14 grandchildren Dillon KIpke (Bronte), Jasmine Kipke (Buddy), Madeline Glover, Levi Kipke (Sarah), Isabel Kurcz (Louie), Milo Glover, Tessa Kipke, Max Glover, Keegan Kipke, Meredith Glover, Anya Kipke, Mateo Kipke, Zariah Kipke, and Micah Kipke and great grandson Arthur Herkenham, and her 2 sisters Marcia Licht and Lorraine Monthei.
Christine was born in Detroit, in 1942, as the eldest child of Chester and Helen Jaworski. She attended Wayne State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She and Lawrence were married on August 3, 1963. They resided in Sterling Heights until 1974, when they moved to White Lake. They remained there until 2008 when they moved to the retirement community Grand Reserve in Grand Blanc. After Larry’s passing, Christine decided to return to White Lake where she had many friends, and resided at Independence Village, a senior community.
Christine’s lifelong passion was education. She began as a kindergarten teacher and after a 10 year pause to raise her daughters, returned to teaching. She eventually went back to school at Eastern Michigan University to get her Master’s Degree in Education. Christine then went on to become a Learning Specialist and Professor at Schoolcraft College, where she worked until her retirement, both assisting students with learning disabilities and teaching.
Christine was an active member of the Catholic Church and served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, Director of religious education, and marriage preparation instructor. She and Larry were also members of Marriage Encounter. Christine had an excellent speaking voice and was often asked to do readings at events, including her grandchildrens’ weddings.
Christine was an outgoing, gregarious person who loved to talk and made many friends over the years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed board games, word puzzles and live theatre. Throughout her life she pursued many different hobbies including sewing and cake decorating.
Christine will be dearly missed by her family and friends but we are happy in the knowledge that she is at peace and back with the love of her life, Larry.
A celebration of Christine’s life will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 309 E. Maple Street, Holly, Michigan 48442. Christine's family will receive visitors at church from 10:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider contributions in Christine's memory to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Development Office, located at 1820 Mt. Elliot Street, Detroit Michigan 48207.
