Allen Coleman of Highland, passed away November 5, 2023 surrounded by his family. Al was 70 years young. Loving husband of Teri for 20 years. Proud father of Allen (Candi) Coleman, Jr., Katherine Abbott, Angela (Dave) Phillips and Garret (Brandon) Coleman-Lewis. Treasured grandfather of seven grandchildren and the great grandfather of seven boys. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Howell of Grand Blanc and brother Ray Coleman of Highland. Sadly he is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rosemary (nee Barrick) Coleman; siblings, Bill, Connie, Richie, Margie, his Mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Stovel and his father-in-law, David Lapham along with his beloved first wife, Cheryl LaPonsey and most recently his lifelong friend, Dennis Parvin.
Al was a US Army Veteran and member of the VFW Post 9914, a chaplain for the Eagles post 4076 and active with the AmVets. He loved baseball, golf and bowling. He enjoyed cooking and was known to his friends as the "cheesecake king". His greatest joy in life was spending time with his kids and he will be very much missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial along with military honors will immediately follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
A wake will be held at the Highland VFW immediately following the burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
