Victoria (Aguilar) Perez EAST CHICAGO, IN – Victoria (Aguilar) Perez, 76 of East Chicago, IN passed away at home on July 18, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends. Victoria was born November 24, 1941 in East Chicago to Ray and Petra Aguilar. She graduated from Washington High School and attended college where she graduated with a degree in X-Ray Technology. She worked as an X-Ray Technician at Gary Methodist Hospital. Victoria voluntarily served 4 decades with the PTA, beginning in the 1970s, earning her the name, “The PTA Lady.” She served as a PTA State Board member, PTA President, and member of many regional and state councils. Her years of outstanding service to the students, parents, and staff of East Chicago was recognized with the naming of the Mr. & Mrs. Eli Perez Library at Franklin Elementary School, induction into the East Chicago Hall of Fame, and receiving the Key to the City. Her service to others also extended to youth sports teams, the Indiana Harbor Baptist Church, and her family.

Victoria is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Petra Aguilar, her stepmother Consuelo Aguilar; sisters Delores Aguilar, Mary (Sotero) Navarro, Ernestina (Trini) Hernandez, Elvira (Juan) Arroyo, Marina (Dennis) Engel, Ruth Quintanilla, and her brother Antonio Aguilar. Victoria is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Eli Perez, her sons David (Annette) Perez, Daniel (Diana) Perez, her nephew-brother Frank (Maria) Aguilar; her brother Ray (Lea) Aguilar; her sister Ester Bowersox; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Marissa, Thomas, Justin, Mia, Maya, Gabriella Perez; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Victoria will be Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at KUIPER FUNERAL HOME at 9039 Kleinman Rd, Highland. IN 46322. Funeral procession to Ridgelawn Cemetery will follow.
