Ronald (Slick & Gypsy) S. Kostyo Sr.

Ronald Steven Kostyo Sr. “ Slick” & “Gypsy” 72 of Hammond, IN passed away on Monday January 17,2011 at Community Hospital Munster, IN; he is survived by son Ronald S. (Catherine) Kostyo, three daughters Sharon Kostyo, Danine (Kurt) Johnson, Pamela (Daniel) Schramm, seven grandchildren Michael & Anne Kostyo, Kara Kostyo, Jennifer & Victoria Johnson, Brienna & Kayla Schramm; preceded in death by his former wife & mother of his children Donna Kostyo in 1998, his mother Irene Cantrell, stepfather James Cantrell, his father Steve Kostyo. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 22nd, 2011; 9:30 AM at Kuiper Funeral home 9039 Kleinman Rd (two blocks south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN; Rev. Robert Parnell officiating, burial Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville, IN. Family and friends may visit with the family on Friday January 21st, from 2 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Ron was born in East Chicago, IN on December 18, 1938, he served in the United States Air Force, retired from Inland Steel after 30 years of services, Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting with his fishing buddies Hank Polochak, Charles Frazier and Bill Sempf. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Calumet Humane Society.
