John Popka

John Popka, age 83, of Highland, IN passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He is survived by two daughters: Michelle (Nick) Dvorscak and Krisann (James) Wierman; grandson, Jonathan Armstrong; brother, Stephen (Jeanette) Popka; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Popka was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Popka; and brother, George Popka. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3711 Ridge Road, Highland, IN with Synodically Authorized Minister David Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family Monday, August 22, 2016 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. John was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Highland. He was proud to serve his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Family members believe he is in heaven spending quality time with his wife Joyce, fishing and complaining about the Chicago Bears defensive line. Please visit:
