Jason Lee Cowger

Jason is the loving father to Lorali (Andrew Polen) Cowger, Aimee Cowger, Morgan Cowger and Eli Cowger; proud grandfather to Violet Polen; beloved son to Cindy Jorgens and the late David Jorgens; cherished brother to Steven Cowger, Lacey (Eric) Welch, Katie Cunningham (Ruben Veloz JR), Jenna Cunningham, Jackie (Jesse) Galban and Davy Jorgens; amazing uncle to many; formerly married to Theresa Cowger; best friend Randy (Dawn) Lowell.

Jason was born on February 12, 1976, in Chicago Heights, IL. At 13 he met Randy Lowell, who had become a father figure to Jason. Together they ran and kept over 100 rental properties. This later inspired Jason to pursue carpentry. In high school, he started at the Hammond Area Career Center and later attended Ivy Tech. He joined Carpenter’s Local #599 in 1999, and quickly became admired and respected by his union brothers, who affectionately called him Ponytail or PT. Jason took pride in his work. He would often tell job site stories and enjoyed pointing out buildings that he worked on.

In his retirement, he continued to use his skills and teach his family and friends about what he learned and his craft that he perfected. Jason loved spending time with his family more than anything else. He will forever be loved and appreciated by those who knew him and his memory will have a lasting impact on all.
