Ella Van Prooyen (nee Vroom), age 100 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. She is survived by two sons: Jim (Millie) of Schererville and Burton (Ardess) of St. John; daughters-in-law: Terri (Van Prooyen) Pawlosky of Dyer and Dianne Van Prooyen of Highland; twelve grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, Burt; son, George; son, Glen; infant daughter, Mary Ellen; three brothers: Cornelius Vroom, Richard Vroom, Henry Vroom; and sister, Ann Hager. Visitation will be at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery, Highland In. on May 5th, 2012 9:00 am prior to funeral services. Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church of Highland on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Randy Bergsma officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Elim Christian School or Highland Christian School Foundation. Ella was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Highland for more than 80 years and was the oldest living member of the Church. She was a member of the Mary & Martha Circle and worked for many years planning and preparing church dinners. She also worked in the family business, Van's Home Furnishings in Highland. The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Life Services in South Holland, IL for the compassionate care given to Ella during the last six years.
