Diane Marie (nee Jones) Tomasko was peacefully reunited with Butch in the heavens on January 12, 2022. Diane was 83 years old and originally from Griffith, IN. She spent several years in Deerfield Beach FL, returning to NWI prior to her transition in to the Saint Anthony’s Memory Loss Care, in Crown Point, IN.
Diane is survived by her sons, Albert "Butch" (Stephanie) Tomasko Jr., Troy (Julie) Tomasko, Scott Tomasko; beloved grandchildren: Tara (Charlie) Alewine, Dr. Tracy Tomasko (Gavin Bouscher), Tegan Tomasko, Sidney Tomasko, Emily Tomasko, Scotty Tomasko; brothers George (Holly) Jones, and Fred Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert W. Tomasko Sr., parents, Frederick and Katherine (Beals) Jones, and sister, Dolores (Rich Sr.) Schultze.
Diane served in the United States Women’s Army Core, Korean Conflict. This is where she met Butch, and settled in Griffith. Diane was always a hard worker and kept herself active. She so enjoyed her days in Florida working at Cracker Barrel and playing B I N G O ! with friends. Lover of animals, there were always a couple or few in the household. Diane’s greatest joy were her grandchildren. Watching her grandkids in Florida grow up was a thrill for her and especially to know and love Sidney before her memory loss was a gift she cherished.
Diane was a member of the Griffith Lutheran Church.
A public visitation for Diane will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4PM to 8PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd., Highland, IN 46322. Funeral service will begin at 11AM on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the funeral home. Pastor Freda Scales will be officiating. Burial to follow with Military Honors at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W. 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410.
