Carl R. Franzen age 90 passed away August 29, 2016; preceded in death by his wife Helen; survived by two sons Carl T. “Russ” (Rita) Franzen of St. John, IN, David (Pat) Franzen of Chandler, AZ, grandchildren Stephanie (Marvin) Crook of Valparaiso, IN, Ryan (Val) Franzen of Dyer, IN, Shannon Franzen, of Highland, IN, Scotty (Jacquelyn) Franzen, Dyer, IN, nieces and nephews, his best friend and love of his life for 20 years of Carmen Barnes of Munster, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday September 1st, 2016 from 2 to 7 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Rd (two blocks south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, private burial. Carl served in World War II in the U S Navy Pacific Theatre and was a gunner mate on U.S.S. LCS (L)-32 ship and received a purple heart, he owned and operated Carl’s De Luxe Grocery Store in Hammond and Hessville for over 40 years, active member in the Hammond Loins Club.
