The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20th, 2018 at Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point. A memorial service will follow with her two son-in-law’s; Charlie Bowers and Harry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Municipal Cemetery in High Point.
Mickey was born in Webster County Kentucky on April 23, 1920 to the late Georgia and Fred Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by beloved husband James Edward Watkins. They built a beautiful life together for 73 years until his passing in 2011.
Missing her, but cherishing a lifetime of memories are her daughters Rita Bowers and husband Charlie Bowers of High Point, Joy Watkins Smith and husband Harry Smith of Eden, North Carolina; grandchildren Holly Bowers and fiancé Chris Johnson, Heather Bowers Lloyd, James Smith, Scott Smith and wife Lorri and eight great grandchildren
Mickey was a member of Emerywood Baptist church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In her younger years, she was active in working with Girl Scouts and Acteens.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the High Point Women’s Club.
Her legacy is her love for her family and friends. Mickey and her husband enjoyed entertaining their family and friends with plenty of food and fun during holidays and birthday celebrations.
