Ronald (Ron) Wade Shaw, 68, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend died suddenly November 27, 2015 in, South Carolina. Ron lived in High Point until 1999, then moved to Lake Norman, where he loved being on the water. Ron was born to Helen and Thomas Marion Shaw, the third of seven siblings in our big happy family, and grew up in High Point, NC. After graduating from High Point Central he enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1966. In October 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, Gail Gardner, and in 1969 their son Shane was born. Ron and Gail were married for 30 years until her death. Almost 25 years later, he was blessed to find Donna Campbell of Lake Norman and in June 2015 they were married. He was so happy that his grandson, Logan, stood up beside him as the best man in his wedding. Ron traveled a great deal, but often said that the honeymoon trip to Alaska was the best trip ever. A natural born salesman and truly a self-made man, Ron started his first business around the age of twelve building a miniature golf course in the backyard. He charged the neighborhood kids (and family, too) ten cents to play. Around age fourteen he worked after school and weekends at Zesto's (a High Point institution). He continued sharpening his sales skills when he started working for Reagan Hardware in 1972. Ron co-founded Preferred Furniture Components in 1983, and became President of the company in 2013. Ron’s passion and dreams where selling and pleasing his customers. He was so proud that his son, Shane, worked with him at Preferred, and that they had such a close and loving bond. Always an instigator, and often being caught, Ron had that dimpled, disarming smile that was forever young. He never liked saying goodbye - it became a family game of "got you last" whenever one was trying to leave. He thinks he's won. We'll see about that. Ron is survived by his, son, Shane Shaw (Andrea); grandsons Logan Shaw, Michael and Matthew Kester; his wife, Donna Shaw; step son Will Campbell; Siblings Bill Shaw (Peggy) of High Point; Ginger McGhee (Larry) of Yadkinville; Dwight Shaw (Jody) of Winston-Salem; Larry Shaw (Karen) of High Point; Phyllis Smith of High Point; Phil Shaw (Dottie) of High Point; and 32 adoring nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, High Point, Wednesday December 2, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 Thursday December 3, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Steele. Entombment will follow in Floral Garden Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
