Roger retired from working in the furniture industry and spent his days keeping up with his favorite sports teams. He was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball and Duke basketball fan, determined to catch every game of his favorite teams’ being broadcasted. His biggest wish came true when he was able to see the Braves take home the World Series in 2021. He also enjoyed going on trips with his family members whenever possible, making cherished memories with them at Walt Disney World, Myrtle Beach, and in the mountains of Tennessee.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Susan; children Jennifer Carroll (Kevin), Larry Powell (Cindi); grandchildren including Ryan Carroll (Petra), Jesse Compton, Kaitlyn Powell, Megan Powell (Bryce), Kade Compton, and CJ Compton; and great-grandchild Grayson Powell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and two children.
Roger will be dearly missed, but his loved ones know that he is at peace, having been greeted at the gates of Heaven by his dear family members.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate his life and honor his memory.
