Frances Ruth, age 99, passed away on March 4th at Hospice Home of High Point after a brief illness. Born in the Wallburg area to Conrad R. and Julia Hayworth Wyre, she had been a lifelong resident of the High Point area. She was married July 1, 1944 to W.V. Ruth who predeceased her on July 16, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her loving daughter, Rose Mary Payne, as well as three sisters, Bessie Kidd, Sarah Woodell, and Juanita Hubbard.
She is survived by one special niece, Kay Manley (Michael) of Trinity and three nephews, Wayne Woodell of Trinity, Donnie and Steve Hubbard of High Point, and son-in-law, Roger Payne of Kernersville.
Frances grew up during the depression years when work was hard and money was scarce. She lived on Gordon Road and worked in the tobacco fields with her Grandpa, John Hayworth. She loved working in her flowers and vegetable garden. She loved nature and feeding the wild birds and feral cats ("Smokey", "Midnight", and "Buttercup"). Frances loved and cherished her wonderful, caring neighbors some of whom lived on her street for 50 plus years. She was employed at Southeastern Foam Rubber for 34 years. In later years, she lived independently and took care of her own affairs until very recently. A kind and humble lady, she never forgot her roots. She attended Triad Baptist Church formerly Deep River Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Hospice Home of the High Point for their care provided in recent weeks.
There will be a graveside service at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery Thursday March 7 at 2p.m. Visitation will be Thursday March 7 from 12:30-1:45p.m. prior to the service at Sechrest -Davis Funeral Home who is in charge of handling the arrangements.
