“Gigi'' Laura Francis Jones, 52, passed away unexpectedly at her home in High Point, NC, on 29 June 2021. She was born in Florence, SC, to Lana Rose Taylor and John Scott Whelchel on 7 February, 1969. Gigi had resided in Pawleys Island, SC, prior to her move to High Point, NC. Gigi loved decorating and designing homes. She had been an interior designer the past 21 years in many different places, Furnitureland South being her last. You would either find her behind a computer designing for a customer or on the back deck with her dog Layla. She had a way about her that people were drawn to with her free spirit, beauty, and laughter. She was spontaneous and loved going to the beach, the mountains and seeing the world. She was the kind of woman that would dress up beautifully, but could also just enjoy sitting around a bonfire. She always surrounded herself with people that would make her smile, and loved having a good time no matter where she was. She was a Christian that was always reading the Lord's Prayer. Gigi was a lover of life and all of its complexities; but was simple at heart. Her voice is one to be remembered, and if you were able to hear her speak, you were one of the luckiest people on earth.
Gigi Jones is survived by her son, Toby Jones and his wife Lauren, her daughter Melissa Jones, her grandson, Jackson Jones; her partner in life Mark Jones, her parents John Whelchel, and Lana Taylor and a large extended family that truly loved her.
A Celebration of Gigi’s life service will take place on July 8th, 2021 at Sechrest-Davis Funerals. Refreshments will begin at 6PM, followed by a service at 7PM. The address is 976 Phillips Ave, High Point, NC 27262.
