A lifelong resident of High Point, Mrs. Pleasants was born in High Point on September 29, 1920 to Alexander Martin and Lena Blair Rankin. She graduated from High Point College in 1941. Mrs. Pleasants was an dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active with the Presbyterian Women. In addition to her church, she was active in many community organizations and the life of River Landing. She also took great joy in her association with the “Chipper Chicks”, a long-time group of women friends. Mrs. Pleasants was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Pleasants.
Surviving are one daughter, Sally Farrar and her husband John Farrar of High Point and one son, Craig Pleasants and his wife Sheila Gulley Pleasants of Amherst, Va. Also surviving her are her adored grandchildren; Julia, Eleanor, and Margot Pleasants and Cam and Jack Farrar.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of High Point with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks officiating. Inurnment in the church columbarium will be private. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of River Landing at Sandy Ridge. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, River Landing at Sandy Ridge, High Point Regional Hospital, or to High Point University.
