Janet was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 9, 1950 to James Edward and Agnes Rem Brucki. She was a 1984 graduate of Guilford Technical Community College with a degree in nursing. She was employed for twenty-nine years with High Point Regional Hospital as Operating Room Nurse and for the past eight years, she was employed with Hospice of the Piedmont as a Staff Nurse.
Janet was a loving, caring person who touched many lives and endured herself to many patients through her work, especially with Hospice. She was also one of the longest living liver transplant recipients in the U.S. She enjoyed participating in the Transplant Games, where she was a two time Silver Medalist in Track and Field. Locally, Janet was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, James Brucki, Jr.
Surviving are her loving husband David L. Sendykar of the residence and one daughter; Johanna Nowicki and her fiancé, Michael Crase, Jr. of High Point; and two step-sons: Eric Sendykar and his wife Lauren of Birmingham, Alabama, and Marc Sendykar of Greensboro. Janet has one sister, Kathie Bass and husband Tom of Jamestown and one brother Richard Brucki and wife Laurie of Roanoke VA. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Christina and Curtis Crase and two step-grandchildren, Harrison and Hayden Sendykar. Also cherishing her memory are her loving nieces, Jennifer McClure and Kristen Brucki and nephews; Drew McClure, Taylor and Dylan Brucki, and Austin McClure.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a. m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Vincent E. Smith, O.S.F.S. celebrant. A reception will follow the Mass. The family will receive friends in the Gathering Space of the Church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the Mass.
