Helen Harris Cooke, age 82, of High Point passed away Friday, July 8, 2011. Helen was born on June 10, 1929 in York, SC. She was a former resident of Raleigh for 18 years and a former resident of Orlando, FL for 7 years.
Helen was a very devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in High Point. She supported her husband Max Cooke in managing Max Cooke Citrus Sales and directing Camp Cheerio and Camp Oak Hill. She was a homemaker and loved hosting for guests, traveling, collecting antiques, decorating, and keeping up with the extensive family photo albums. Helen will be missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Max Hartsell Cooke and her son, Jeffrey Scott Cooke. Survivors include her son, Kim Henderson Cooke of North Charleston, SC; daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Coley of China Grove and Amy Jacobs and her husband John of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Jay Cooke, Cayce Cooke Gordon, Adam Kapfhamer, Benjamin Jacobs, Austin Jacobs, Zachary Jacobs, and great grandchild Alec Cooke.
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 3:00pm at Floral Gardens Cemetery in the Mausoleum Chapel in High Point. Entombment will follow immediately after service.
