Gene Griffin Murr Sr.

Gene Murr, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Hospice Home @ High Point.

Gene was born in Union County, November 14, 1933, a son of the late Kiah and Javie Griffin Murr. He was a proud Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Gene retired from the trucking industry after many years of service. He was an avid golfer, loved to read, enjoyed sports, and especially the Atlanta Braves. Gene's family was the most important thing in his life! He was a member of High Point Friends Meeting. Gene was preceded in death by two children, Christy Murr Sellers and Ronnie Murr; a granddaughter, Alicia Murr Todd; a sister, Joyce Murr Quakenbush.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nancy Atkins Murr; a daughter, Debbie Spell (David); two sons, David Murr and Gene "Buddy" Murr, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Jane Murr; a son-in-law, Rodney Sellers; nine grandchildren, Ken Spell ( Shelley), Ben Spell, Jeff Murr (Jackie), Stephen Murr (Sarah), Griffin Murr, Brennan Murr, Cori Fowler, Donnie Sellers and Dylan Sellers; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans or to Hospice of the Piedmont.
