On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Mr. Fred Hollingsworth passed away at Hospice Home of High Point. He was the son of the late Wiley H. and Lola Moser Hollingsworth, born on November 27, 1921 in Randolph County. Fred retired from the military, earning two Purple Hearts and Bronze Star while serving in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by sisters, Clara Helms and Alyne Mock; and a brother, Garney Hollingsworth.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Agnes Markovich Hollingsworth; a sister, Ruby Clary; and a nephew, Douglas Hollingsworth and wife Janice.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19th at First United Methodist Church chapel with the Reverend Chris Fitzgerald officiating. The family will greet friends immediately after the service.
A cryptside committal service will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park with full military honors.
