Born in Graham, NC, November 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Aldridge Kirk Hardee and Cornelia Norwood Hardee. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Freemont Okey, son William Freemont Okey Jr. and brother Aldridge Kirk Hardee Jr. She was a graduate of Queens College and a member of High Point Presbyterian Church where she was very active in many of the women’s organizations of the church. A resident of High Point, NC since 1955, she was active volunteer in many civic and charitable organizations including a sustaining member of the Women’s Guild of High Point Regional Hospital, Former Red Cross Blood Mobile coordinator, former member of the WCA board, volunteer for Mobile Meals and volunteer worker for Social Services at the Presbyterian Home.
Mrs. Okey is survived by two nephews, Aldridge Kirk Hardee III and his wife Sue Hardee, Frederick Dozier Hardee, niece Martha H. Hardee and numerous great and great great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 25 at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel of High Point by the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks. There will be a private inurnment at the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to a charity of their choice.
