Mrs. Cook was born in High Point, June 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Samuel Avery and Jettie Mae Nance Linthicum. She worked at Trinity Elementary School cafeteria for many years and was a member of Trindale Baptist Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Grayson Cook, a daughter, Carol Gail Cook and a brother, William Ralph Linthicum. Dorothy loved her family, many friends and her church.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Kay Davis and her husband Gurney, Vickie Stroud and husband Steve, Joyce Leigh Barnes and husband Larry and Ann Stephens and husband Ed; a sister, Avery Shaw; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tony Moore and Billy Linthicum. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
