Mrs. Brenda Billings Russell, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, May 31, 2021 following several years of declining health.
Brenda was born in High Point, October 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Rev. Paul Billings and Carrie Wright Billings. She retired from Florence Elementary as a teacher's assistant after twenty years of service. Brenda was also a licensed beautician, working at Sechrest Funeral Home as a hairdresser for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of Westchester Baptist Church, serving on numerous committee's at the church. Brenda's family was very important to her and was a care giver to several family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzel Russell; two sisters, Kathleen Merritt and Joan Jester; two brothers, Clyde and Don Billings; and her granddaughter, Tina Marie Pilcher.
Surviving are her son, Steven Matheson and wife Debra; a granddaughter, Stephenie Dunn and husband Steve; a grandson, Brad Russell; two great-grandsons, Joshua Dunn and Gavin Jess; sister, Gayle Johnson and her husband Arthur; a sister in law, Ann Billings and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Brenda's life will be held Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Westchester Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Eric Peacock. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
