Bonnie Whelchel Porter

Mrs. Porter was born March 29, 1920 in Gainesville, GA, daughter of F.E. Odum and Lillian Elrod Whelchel.

She married Robert Kimsey Porter, Sr. in 1940 and they were blessed with two sons, Robert K Porter, Jr. and Earl P. Porter. Most of their married life was spent in Charlotte. They enjoyed traveling and visited several foreign countries. Her husband died in 1990 and she later moved to High Point to be near her son, Earl Porter. She met many new friends in High Point.

Survivors include son, Earl Porter of High Point; daughter-in-law, Beth (Robert Jr.) Porter of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Karissa (Travis) Wheeler of Trinity, Robin Kazmarek of Whitsett, NC, and Chris (Gwinne) Porter of Chappaqua, NY; great grandsons, Ryan and Jack Porter of NY, and Paxton Edward Wheeler of Trinity; and great granddaughter, Montgomery Kate Wheeler of Trinity.

A memorial service will be held at Sechrest Funeral Service on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 4:00pm. The family requests those that attend wear masks and practice safe social distancing.

Inurnment will take place in Gainsville, GA.
