Dear Tami was my classmate at Parson's School of Dsign.  She was a sweetheart and a diligent designer, always hard at work!  She was  always complimentary of our classmatesi, which was extremely competitive- that in itself was a testament to her  personality and kind character.  May you rest in peace my dear Tami, God Speed.

Although I had infrequent contacts with Tami, I had enough of them to conclude that she was a most friendly, gracious and attractive individual. As a husband of long standing, myself, I wish to commend Chic most highly for his evident dedication, devotion and constant attentiveness to Tami and to meeting all of her needs. It was most evident that she was his top priority and that he did all he could to make her last few years as comfortable as possible.
On behalf of my wife and myself we send warm condolences to Chic, Tanya and the entire Lam family for their grievous loss. She will now live in your hearts forever.

Eulogy

God has a mysterious way to put Tami and me together 43 years ago. Next month it would be our 41 wedding anniversary. Tami had Lupus, a chronic, autoimmune disease one year after we got married. Even though with chronic physical problem she was strong mentally and spiritually.  I cannot imagine I could endure the pain she had endured. In spite of all these, she was strong, loving, warm and caring not just to her family but to others as well.
Due to her sickness she could not have her own baby. But God blessed us with our daughter, Tanya 27 years ago.    Just a couple days ago, our first god-daughter, Joy's mom, Janet told me  that Tami had told her 28 years ago that the idea of adopting a child.  Janet in fact told Tami that was not a good idea because of Tami's sickness. She thought how could you possible bring a child in her condition.   Here was Tami's answer. With God's blessing, I would not have a problem. I really want someone to take care Chic Ho in his old age when I am no long living on this earth.  It tells you about Tami. She planned ahead for me.
We both truly believe that. Her sickness is God's will and the way to lead both of us to Lord. Because of it, her testimonies surely touch the hearts of lots people. .
In Sep 24, 2013 while I was away in China attending  a wedding, I suddenly  received an email from her. Let me quote a few of her sayings in this email.
A happy marriage bonds and builds in God's love. Before your trip I realized all my bad habits and wrong doings, and how much you have sacrificed for me.
During all these 39 years of our marriage we were so focused on my physical problems. You walk with me along with God during my trails. I am thankful everyday for your love and care.
With God's help I will be a better caring and loving wife. So, no more joking about the basement is your hiding place.
We should treasure our time together for years to come. May be a few or many more years according to God's will.  Two more years for her.... 
Well. my love, my wife, my true partner and my Christian soldier, since you are up there with heavenly father and watching over me and Tanya's well being , then I'll be Down in the basement not hiding but do my daily devotion there as you had been reminded me through out our time together.
I'll be catching you up, my love. Be patient!!

I will greatly miss my dear sister Tami. Her warmth, generosity, and happy disposition in spite of her illness will always be remembered.. I don't know what my summer will be like when I return to US next year. I will miss her long phone calls and conversations. However, I am comforted by knowing that I'll see her in our heavenly home. She will greet me and everyone of us at the pearl gate with a radiant smile. Like our kids said, auntie Tami is a God sent godmother to all of them; the pillows and dresses that you made for Charlotte will be well kept in the storage and in our memories. When I think of my sister Tami, my tears fall. I ask God to help me and also comfort you and give you His peace especially at this difficult time.
Tami gives us a good example of no matter how hard the situation...just "Trust in the Lord".
I still remember when Kevin had a heart attack in 2011, her encouragement and love brought me a lot of strength.
Now she is resting in our mighty God's arms, no more pain and tears. Just like 2Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. " her beautiful life lives out God's love and kindness.

Dear Uncle Chic Ho and Tanya,
We're deeply saddened to hear of the news. I immediately think of Auntie Tami's terrific gift in caring for others and was incredibly genuine in all that she did. I've shared with Mary how although we'd have the chance to see one another every few years or so, it always felt as if it had only been yesterday that we had talked because of how welcoming she was as an individual. The joy of Christ was immensely evident through her. It was a blessing having known Auntie Tami growing up. We look forward to seeing her again one day with our Father. Tami and Chic Ho have been such a blessing to Patrick and I and our families over the years since the days when we were dating in NYC! Tami designed and made my wedding gown as well as the dresses for my flower girls! Tami's life was an incredible testimony of God's amazing love and power! We will miss you very much, Tami, even though we know you are in God's glorious presence with Christ your beloved Savior! Just now I heard about Auntie Tami from Crystal. I am very, very sad and shocked. I don't know what to say to you because I know you are the person who feels the most sad. I remember so many warm things you and Auntie Tami gave and did for me. I remember the very nice dinner and talks at your house, sometimes with Crystal and your friends and other times only me, the day you took me to a nice sushi restaurant for my graduation, the day you took Crystal and I to the Church for the Christmas event where we saw a show and where we listened to nice chorus, and the day you came for my graduation ceremony as my parents. 
I am writing this email but I can't stop my tears. I am very sad, but somehow, every time I think of Auntie Tami, I only can think of her beautiful and warm smiles. Even though she is passed away, still she tries to make me smile and gives a lot of energy. She is a really, really wonferful person as well as a cute & cheerful woman I know. 
I know she is with you with a big smile as she was. I know she lights up your days as she was. I knew she was sick for a long time, but I guess she was fine because you took care of her as much as you could. Everyone knows how much you did for her and how much you love her.
 
I told my parents about Auntie Tami. They are also sad and cry. My mother said how fast (young) she was. They really appreciate her and your kindness. 
Please know my parents and I pray for her. Our thoughts are with you and Tanya. Please stay warm and strong. I will be sad from today but I would like to live with her smile.

I am so sorry to hear this! Ohh, Uncle Stewart!!

THANK YOU for emailing me to let me know. This must have been a very difficult email to write. 

I was so shocked to hear this news, because I didn't get the sense from her last email update (in late August) that she was experiencing a significant decline of any sort in her health. Please forgive me for not calling or getting to check in over the last few months. I am really sorry I didn't get to talk to Auntie Tami much recently, beyond the emails we exchanged just before her last update email.  She wrote to ask if we received the Precious Moments gifts for our children -- and I wrote back saying, yes, we did, and they were such kind presents!! 

I felt so sad when I shared the news of Auntie Tami's passing with my parents and John and cried. 

But I'm glad I got all of their support to fly out to be with all of you this weekend. I just booked my plane tickets so I can be there. Lord willing, I will be there on both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and Baby Peter will be with me. 

You and Auntie Tami have meant SO MUCH to me over these past ten years especially. Auntie Tami was so supportive of me in my ministry and service, such a prayer-warrior and a prayer advocate on my behalf for so many years with the LIALC community. That meant so much. It also meant SO much that you guys were among the very special guests who traveled from NY to Boston for our wedding. And that we got to see you again for our NY reception.

And then you came to visit us out here in California, and then we got to visit and see your new home in NY one Christmas! 

It's such a blessing to have gotten to pray for Tanya over the years, just like you guys prayed for us to have children. 

I just want to be there to give you a hug and tell you how much we love you and love Auntie Tami. 
We will be praying for you this week and beyond. We love you very, very much, Uncle Stewart. 

Auntie Tami lived a beautiful life, left a beautiful legacy, and we want to celebrate God's incredible witness through her over her lifetime.

Dearest Kai-ye (and Kai-ma)
Please allow me to copy Kai-ma here since I still could not believe Kai-ma left us so quickly and I had no chance to say goodbye to her...

Cannot sleep tonight.  All the moments about Kai-ma appear in front of me when I closed my eyes.  

The first time when we met in Nov 2005, the friendly smile she gave to me and the note she wrote about your name and email address.  

The first email she wrote to me telling me that you both received the school magazine I mailed to you.  

The first phone call she made to me telling about your recent life in the US.

The first hug she gave to me during my first visit to the US in late 2009.

The first chocolate cookies and welcoming balloon she prepared for me when I arrived at your home on Sexton Road.

Her cheerful smile when she took me to the church for the first time and introduced me to all the church friends.

The first lunch box she prepared for me during my first trip to Washington DC with Kai-ye, Kelly and Phillip.

Her smiling eyes when she told me about your love story for the first time.

The moment when we all sat in a toll truck on our way to Niagara Falls since our car was broken, and she said to me:" Crystal, would you mind being our god daughter?"

The  dinner we had and the cake saying "May god bless our god parentship"

The moment we went to your new home in the Seasons in year 2011, the moment we spent together for X'mas and sang the song together at X'mas Eve in year 2012, the moment we counted down for New Year's day, the moment we spent together in HK and she shared your life stories with Danyang in Nov 2013....

Countless moments and sweet memories about Kai-ma...I hope my writing could be much better so that I could wrote down all stories about her.  

I hope time could be reversed back, so that I could make more calls to Kai-ma and should not miss any calls from her, so that I could stay longer and take leaves to accompany her during her last visit to HK in Nov 2013, so that I could go to the US last year to attend your wedding anniversary regardless of my pregnancy, so that I could fly to the US this year given I already know Kai-ma is getting much weaker, so that I could hug and kiss her longer, so that I could say thank you and goodbye to her for the last time... 

I felt so regretful for Kai-ma that I could have done much better as her god daughter...I should have visited you this year during my maternity rather than waiting for next year to bring Keke together...and now I could not even attend her farewell ceremony given my visiting visa is out of date...

I think there is no one else who gave so much care and love to me like Kai-ma and you except from my parents and Danyang.  You both gave me generous love and trust even though when I was a poor student.  

Kai-ma is such a nice person with lots and lots of good spirits that I have never met.  She is kind, gentle, generous, sincere, optimistic and brave.   She gave so much joy to her friends, although she suffered so much pain for her health condition. 

Maybe it is time for her to relieve from pain now, and finally she could have a long sweet sleep with God's blessings.  She must be peaceful and joyful in heaven now...

My dear Kai-ye, please be strong and continue to live happily with Kai-ma's good spirits.  I believe that is what Kai-ma hopes you to do as well.

Tami and I had a special relationship for many years.  I was her personal nutritionist. She was on top of her disease management, and her resilience and perseverance were a godsend. She was a good learner in medical nutrition therapy.  She accepted her condition and was always positive about life. Our sessions always finished with compromise and willingness to comply. 
But what Tami did not know was that I was modeling after her inspiration and love of life. She was amazingly vigilant and totally engaged in loving existence, no matter how she felt. I never heard a single word of complaint from Tami. 
Lupus is a complex disease and requires comprehensive care -- and it was oftentimes overwhelming. Tami was courageous in her life course, brave in coping with this debilitating disease. She had been in and out of doctors' offices, clinics, and hospitals, dealing with different ailments one at a time. I expected she would pull through this time Through everything, standing by her was Chic Ho whose unconditional loving care is one of a kind.  They both share an empowering force from God, their guiding post.
Last year at Chic Ho and Tami's 40th wedding anniversary, I was so honored that I got to assist Tami, fixing her hair and helping her get dressed. She had been suffering from peripheral vascular pain. She told me she had so much pain that she felt indebted to Chic Ho who had to get up at night tending to her needs.  
Tami had my favorite food ready() each time Jabo and I visited. She had such attention to detail, something that I could never be able to pick up. Lupus was brutal and true to her, but her love toward life and faith in God was invincible. Chic Ho knows, for he'd walked the journey with Tami convincingly and wholeheartedly. 
Thank you Chic Ho, for setting an example of true love and devotion. Thank you, Tami, for being an inspiration to all of us. May you rest in peace.
