Mary Papazoglou

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Papazoglou on December 6, 2023. Beloved wife of the late George Papazoglou, mother of 3, grandmother of 8, great grandmother of 15, and a Yiayia to all, she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of love. She is survived by her children, Ria and John Alciviades, Manoli and Christina Papazoglou, and Cosmas Boutis, husband of Mary’s eldest daughter Helen. Her grandchildren: Bill, George, Steve, Michael, Agnes, Maria, George, and Dimitri, along with their spouses, and her great-grandchildren: Ella, Ava, Michael, Melina, Luke, LJ, Sophie, Julia, Liana, Sasha, Teo, Katherine, Amy, Niko, and Penelope, will miss her hugs, love, and delicious koulourakia. Yiayia’s warmth, generosity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all that loved her. For those wishing to pay final respects please find the information below:

A visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 Old Country Rd, Hicksville, New York 11801. A liturgy will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Field Ave, Hicksville, New York 11801. A committal service will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Michael's Cemetery, 7202 Astoria Blvd S, East Elmhurst, NY 11370.
