Jane T. Botta, age 87, of Plainview, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Botta, with whom she shared 38 years of cherished marriage until his passing in 1997.
Born and raised in New York, Jane was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her. Her devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She was the proud mother of two sons, Nick and Chris & embraced their wives Susan and Catherine as her own daughters with boundless love and affection.
Jane's greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother to Matthew (Elizabeth), Nicole, Aidan, Luke (Maryn), Cole, and her great-grandson, Rory. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and milestones, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Throughout her life, Jane cultivated deep and lasting friendships, none more enduring than her nearly 80-year bond with her dear friend, MaryLou Goerke. She also treasured the close relationship she shared with her brother-in-law Jerry Botta and his wife Ann.
Jane's zest for life was contagious, and she and her late husband, Nick, lived life to the fullest. From exploring Manhattan to enjoying the beaches of Long Island, they reveled in each other's company and shared a passion for travel, dining, and dancing, always the last two on the dance floor at a wedding. Their love story was one for the ages, inspiring all who knew them.
Over the last quarter-century, Jane found new loves. In Robert Weiss, she had a partner in travel, dancing and dining. As Bob’s children have said, “Jane is family.”
Her motto of the last 25 years was summed up in her license plate frame: “I’d rather be line dancing.” Whether dancing under the stars at Jones Beach or in the halls of St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Jane found joy in every step she took. Jane's enthusiasm for dance brought her immense happiness and formed the foundation of many cherished friendships.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at Vernon C Wagner FH in Hicksville, New York. An Interment will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering to support cancer research, a cause dear to Jane's heart.
Jane T. Botta will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love. May she rest in eternal peace.
