Francis James Kenney, beloved Dad, Father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 87. A 53 year resident of Hicksville and parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy parish. His life was truly blessed with a family who loved him dearly.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York to loving parents Frank and Anna. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Edmund. Frank was married to his sweetheart Dorothy for 49 years until her passing.
Frank was a proud United States Marine and supported all branches of the armed Forces.He was also a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He loved golf, cowboy movies, Irish dancing & coaching little league. He was a plumber by trade and retired from the New York City Housing Authority as a plumbing supervisor. He started a second Career as a professor at the Vocational Institute of Technology teaching plumbing.
He was President of Local 1 Plumbers Union for over 50 years. Upon retiring, he became President of the Retirees, a position he still held. Frank had said about old age "When the good Lord needs a plumber, he will give me a call.”
Frank had a special love for his family, especially his beloved wife, Dorothy. He was a wonderful Dad to Patty (Ricky), Buddy (Angela),Michael (deceased), Kevin (Carrie). Beloved grandchildren RJ (Nicole), Keri Ann (Jennifer), Sean, Madalyn & Maeve. Beloved great grandchildren Connor, Kaylie, Caiden, Colin, Charlotte and Claire.
Our Dad will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his love of his family will live on in the hearts of those he so dearly loved. Truly a life well-lived and a man truly loved.
Visitation Will be Monday June 3,2 024 from 3PM - 8PM at Vernon C. Wagner
Funeral Home - 125 W. Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at 11:15 AM, 500 South Oyster Bay Rd, Hicksville, N.Y.
