BONNER-Liz, (54) on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, after succumbing to complications from a chronic illness. Liz was born February 16, 1969 on Long Island, and grew up in Hicksville. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Old Westbury and a Master’s degree in Library Science from C.W. Post. She worked as a librarian at several libraries on Long Island, including most recently, Island Trees Public Library. It was a job she loved and one that was particularly suited to Liz as she was an inveterate booklover with a profound reverence for the power of words. She especially enjoyed selecting books for discussions with library patrons, and labored over which books would appeal the most. She was a practicing and committed Buddhist with a phenomenal sense of humor (along with a hearty laugh) and many passions, including public radio and music.
Predeceased by her father, Michael F. Bonner. Survived, and sorely missed, by her mother, Patricia Bonner; her three sisters, Patricia Boylan (Paul Boylan), Denise Bonner-Stone (Mike Stone) and Jeanne Bonner (Mike Cocca), as well as eight nieces and nephews: Aileen, Brighid, Michael and Jack Boylan; Colin, Ian and Brendan Stone; and Leo Cocca.
Liz is also mourned by members of her local Soka Gakkai Buddhist chapter who were invaluable in aiding her both physically and spiritually.
Family and friends can gather Saturday 12-2 pm at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.VernonCWagnerFuneralHome.com for the Bonner family.
