WILLIAM DAVID WARREN NEWTON- William “Willie” D. Warren, 62, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015. Born on December 2, 1952 in Catawba County to Letha Cloer Warren and the late Robert T. Warren. Willie retired from the City of Hickory Fire Department after 35 years of service at the rank of Fire Engineer. He was also a charter member of Startown Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for 21 years, and a member of the City of Newton Fire Department, where he served for 6 years. He passed his love for the job down to his two sons- William, a Battalion Chief at Gastonia Fire Department and a firefighter at Newton Fire Department, and John, a Captain at Hickory Fire Department. He was an active member of the Conover Masonic Lodge 709. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Willie was an avid historian and took pride in American history. His extensive historic military collection has been on display throughout Catawba County as well as the entire country. His displays received numerous accolades and awards. He leaves behind a loving wife of 42 years, Joyce Bolch Warren; two sons, William C. Warren and wife Marsha and John A. Warren and wife Laura; four grandchildren, Stacie, Lyndsie, Luke and Logan Warren. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Startown with Pastor Ralph Kraft officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park with full Masonic Rites and ringing of the last alarm. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 starting at 5:30 pm at Catawba Funeral Home.
