William Lester Shields

William “Bill” Lester Shields, 76 of Statesville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18th, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 21st, 1948, in Guilford County, NC, Bill was the son of the late Clayton Lester Shields, Jr. and Margaret Jean Fortune Shields. He originally became a Mason at the Lee Lodge No. 253 in Taylorsville and received his first degree on November 21st, 1988, his second on January 9th, 1989, and his third on January 23rd, 1989 (Master’s Mason Degree). On July 6th, 1993, Bill was accepted as a member of the Blackmer Lodge No. 127 in Mt Gilead. He held several officer positions in Blackmer Lodge and served as its Master in 1996 and he received his 25-year Service Award at Blackmer Lodge on March 30th, 2014. Bill also had a master’s degree in education and was the principal at North Middle School

Those left to cherish his memory include, his two daughters, Lindsey Jo Spinks and husband, Wesley and Caroline Rietz and husband, Kevin and three grandchildren, Piper and Ryder Spinks, and Abigail Rietz.

A visitation will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at 11:30 am with The Blackmer Masonic Lodge performing last rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blackmer Lodge 127 of Mt. Gilead NC in William’s name.
