WAYNE “WAYNEO” ALLEN WILLIS HICKORY – Wayne “Wayneo” Allen Willis, 75 of Hickory passed away on January 19, 2017. Born on October 31, 1941 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late J. C. and Vergie Willis. Wayne was the owner of Wayneo’s Silver Bullet. He was an esteemed pillar of the community, avid sportsman, entrepreneur, charitable mentor, and a strong conservative Republican. Wayne was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a “son”, Charlie “Hotdog” Phelps, sister, Linda Miller, a brother, Gary “Pete” Willis, and two young sisters. Survivors include his loving companion of 12 years, Dixiekaye Simpson; former wife of 36 years, Ruth Willis; children, Marshall Phelps, David Willis, Debra Willis, Rodney Willis, Dwayne Willis, Chuck Willis; step-children, Eugene McClure, Jr., Lynn Dodd, Dahn Gibby; grandchildren, Joshua Willis, Angela Williamson, Matthew Towery, Rhys Willis; great-grandson, Dalton Smith; step-grandchildren, Devin Poteet, Robbie Gibby, Jincy Gibby, Maggie Ann Gibby, Titus Dodd; siblings, James Willis, Randy Willis, Sharon Hicks, Joy Walker, Robin Bumgarner; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2 PM at Wayneo’s Silver Bullet, all are welcome. Wayne was instrumental in planning and launching Fred T.
