Walter “Dub” Andrew Martin, age 84, went into the arms of his Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his residence. Born July 17, 1935 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Roy Edward Martin and Clara Adel Mason Martin. A veteran of the US Navy, he was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS), retired from the furniture industry and then entered into a partnership with Roy Cook to establish Cook’s Automotive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Miller, Shirley Chrisman, Mildred Hoke and his brother, Gene Martin.
Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Shook Martin; son, Tim Martin; daughter, Andrea Trent and husband Eddie; grandchildren, Kara Miller, Laura Trent, and Cory Trent; great grandson, Wyatt Miller; brothers, Max Martin and Butch Martin and wife Brenda; and sister, Linda Bramlett.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Hickory with Rev. David Ziehr officiating. Inurnment with Military Rites by Post 544 will follow in St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
