Virginia Taylor was born the daughter of the late Edward and Geneva Polite. Her birth took place on Tuesday, January 18th, 1944 in New York City. Virginia attended CEH High School where she graduated in 1962.
On Friday, December 18th, 1964, Virginia married Isaiah Taylor, Sr. in New York City. From this union two sons were born, Russell and Eric.
Virginia resided in the Bronx on Evergreen Avenue for the past fifty years and was known as a second mom to many of her son's friends. It was not uncommon for her apartment to be full of young ones who always knew where they could come for a good home cooked meal and love. Virginia always wanted to have daughters and she had three “spiritual” children whom she viewed as her own: Laura Ann, Darnell, and Brigitte. She also had two spiritual sons, Danny and Ernest.
Virginia was employed by Montefiore hospital in the Bronx, where she retired from her position as a unit secretary in 2010.
In her leisure time, Virginia enjoyed watching movies and listening to music of all kinds. Some of her favorite artists were Marvin Gaye, Frankie Beverly and Maze, the O’Jays, Isaac Hayes, Barry White, and Gladys Knight.
Virginia was known for being an independent, private woman who would help and give to anyone in need. She was happiest most when she was surrounded by her family and dear friends.
Virginia fell asleep in death on Wednesday, April 30th, 2019 at Montefiore hospital.
If you were ever around Virginia, you would often hear her speak about her love for God and express a keen interest in spiritual things. At the end of every conversation, it was her custom to end the discussion with the expression “God Bless”.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; Edward Polite and Geneva Polite, and her sister; Christine Brown. Virginia is survived by her sons; Russell (Aretha) Taylor and Eric (Ebony) Taylor, her brothers; Benjamin Wyne, and Marvin Harris, Her grandchildren, Christopher Taylor, Branden Taylor, Serena Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
