Ginny was born July 30, 1937 in Lenoir to the late Roy Theodore “Ted” Broyhill and Virginia Hallman Broyhill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clayton Cobb, Jr., a son, Charles Hamilton Cobb, and a sister, Patricia Broyhill Hudson.
She grew up in Lenoir and graduated from Lenoir High School in 1955. She attended Women’s College University of NC at Greensboro from 1955 to 1959 where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music - Organ. Ginny was the Parish Organist for St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Hickory from 1979 to 2005 and faithfully attended following her retirement until 2020. She was a lover of classical music and animals and was a wildlife and nature enthusiast. She loved spending time in the North Carolina mountains, particularly Blowing Rock and Little Switzerland, and also enjoyed traveling to historic Charleston, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and England.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Elizabeth Broyhill Cobb of Hickory; her sister, Linda Broyhill Hogan of Bradenton, Florida; her brother, William Thomas “Bill” Broyhill of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Laura V. Hudson Welch, Bradley G. Hudson, Linda Susan Hogan Mueller, Stephen P. Hogan, and Timothy M. Hogan.
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 130 39th Ave. Place NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at a later date.
