Verland Wright

Verland Wright 76 of Hildebran, passed away Tuesday at Frye Medical Center in Hickory. He was the son of the late John Dewey Wright and Margaret Swink Wright, born in Cleveland County on May 28, 1939. Verland attended Hildebran School followed by four years of service in the United States Navy. His trade was in construction, he enjoyed motorcycles and his road travels especially out west as he enjoyed seeing the United States. He is preceded in death by a daughter Maureen Wright Reese and survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister Lex Wright, Harold Wright and Wilma Wright White of Hickory, his four children Sarah Wright LaPointe of Kannapolis NC, Linda Wright Shell of Bethlehem NC, Michael Wright and wife Michele of Matthews, NC and Neal Wright and wife Donna of San Diego California and their mother Mary Kelly Wright of Hickory. Verland has 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Verland’s will be held at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016, at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends at the reception immediately following the chapel service. In his honor donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
