Tong Xiong, a brave soldier of the Vietnam War and a devoted family man, passed away on July 1st, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on February 6th, 1939, in Laos, and most recently resided in Mount Holly, NC.
Tong’s remarkable life was marked by his service as part of the CIA recruited Hmong Gorilla Unit during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication to his country will always be remembered.
While Tong’s love for his country was evident, his love for his wife, Chia Yang, knew no bounds. He simply loved her more than anything else. In addition to his family life and military service, Tong was also dedicated to his church. He found solace and strength in his faith.
Tong will be deeply missed by his seven children. His legacy as a brave soldier, loving husband, and devoted member of his church will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on;
Saturday, July 13- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Sunday, July 14 - 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Services will officiated by Pastor Vang Vang
Burial will follow Sunday’s service at Catawba Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to True Life Alliance Church of Hickory in Tong’s name.
