Teresa was born March 28, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Johnny and the late Dorothy Church. Teresa grew up and lived most of her life in Watauga and Caldwell County. She worked in nursing at Watauga Medical Center before switching careers to follow her passion in sewing. Prior to her illness, Teresa worked at Dedon Furniture in Greensboro.
Teresa is survived by her daughter, Sonya Townsend and husband Jason of Newton; her father Johnny Church of Vilas; two sisters, Sharon Kelly and husband Randy of Hampstead, and Mary Cornett and husband Preacher Eric Cornett of Vilas; one brother, Kenneth Church and wife Gina of Johnson City, Tn. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Beth Rogers and husband Treandy of Hickory, Michael Ward of Myrtle Beach and Connor Townsend of Newton; 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Ward of Hickory; several aunts and uncles, including her special Aunt Reba Taylor, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother Dorothy Church, she was preceded in death by her brother Buddy Church, and her nephew Cody Church.
The family would like to extend utmost gratitude to Dr. Courtney Reed, Dr. Hannah Kibler and Dr. Laurie Bean for their care and support, and to the wonderful nurses at the dialysis centers in Mocksville & Conover.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 3193 Rush Branch Road, Sugar Grove, NC 28679. Fellowship hall is across from the Church on the hill.
