HICKORY – Sandy Hatcher, 78 of Hickory formerly of Beckley, WV went home to be with family on November 4, 2022 at Carolina Caring surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born on September 13, 1944 in Maben, WV to the late Alvin Albert McMullin and Beatrice Wood McMullin Vass. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Sandy enjoyed working in her kitchen cooking for everyone, flowers, gardening, canning and being outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by great-grandson, R.J. Hatcher; daughter in laws, Jodie Marie Terry-Hatcher and Melinda May Tolliver-Hatcher.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Drema Staruszkiewicz and husband Michael, Judith Wallace and husband Dave, James Hatcher, Edwin Hatcher and wife Lisa; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Connie McMullin, Alvin “Red” McMullin, Sara “Sissy” McMullin Shawver; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM -1 PM at the funeral home.
