Hickory – Samuel Dexter Bowman, 74 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Carolina Caring.
Born on March 11, 1948 in Catawba County, NC, Samuel was the son of the late Samuel Wesley and Katherine Elizabeth Marlowe Bowman. He retired from Sherrill’s Furniture after over 25 years of loyal service. Sam was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping, golfing, as well as, gardening or anything outdoors. He was a man who was one with nature and animals. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Bowman and Jimmy Bowman.
Those left to cherish his memory include, a daughter, Lori Bowman and wife Kim of Hickory; two grandchildren, Katherine Bowman and Travis Vaughn both of Hickory. Sammy is also survived by a special friend and care giver, Vera “Vicki” Maynard and his two best buddies, Charles Sherrill and Michael Martin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastors David Thomas and Jack McConnell officiating.
The family will receive friends for a short time after the service.
