Robert "Bob" Eugene Wright

Conover – Robert “Bobby” Eugene Wright, 75 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Born on March 22, 1948 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of Thomas Spencer Wright, Jr. and Frankie Rosetta Norris Wright. Bob was a graduate of Cowpens High School and Wofford College. He received a Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University and an education degree from Lenoir Rhyne College. Bob taught math for 30 years at Statesville High School. He served in the US Army in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant and received the Agent Orange Medal. He remained active in the Boy Scouts of America and received numerous awards including, The Silver Beaver, Wood Badge, and The Lamb award. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Spencer Wright, Jr.; a brother, David Wright and a grandson, Vernon Wright.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his mother, Frankie Wright; his wife of 48 years, Jan Wright; a son, Andrew Wright; a daughter, Anna Boone and their spouses, as well as, 5 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 1686 6th St SE, Hickory, NC on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 4:00 pm with Pastor Judy Drysdale officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Piedmont Council of Boy Scouts of America in Robert’s name.
