He was born on November 1, 1938, to the late Robert Ollie Wells and Willard Canipe Wells in Lincoln County. He loved to golf and vacation in Gatlinburg, TN.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Corey Austin Mays.
Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Lynne Parker of Mt City, TN and Deborah Renee Mays of Hickory; grandchildren, Kevin Eugene Mays, Shelby Renee Mays, Christian Michael Parker, Jason Robert Annas and two great grandchildren.
A small service will be held at a later time for the immediate family only, in accordance with their wishes.
